A Burt & Ernie half term

Its half term AGAIN and the kids are off school AGAIN! It feels like that anyway i am sure i never had as many holidays as they do! I love having them home really and we always find ways to entertain ourselves even if its mostly raining like it has been this time although the sun has showed its face in the last few days. Plenty of time spent at Hatters which is soft play center round the corner. We go there quite a bit anyway in the winter or if its raining and last week we went for Fred's 2nd birthday, as its one of his favorite places. I always take my latest project and the kids, even Fred can have a free run which i work away. This is where i finally finished my new hats Burt & Ernie! so here they are...

As it was Fred's birthday i had to make a cake and one of the few words he is saying at the moment is iggle piggle from In the night garden though its really cute when he says it " i   gul pi   gul" so this is his cake

It was Paul birthday a few weeks ago as well and i made him the most chocolaty cake ever a Mary Berry Ultimate Chocolate Cake with Truffle filling and covered with Thornton's Chocolates and Kit Kats round the side and you can't see it in the picture but i had gold spray on the top.

OMG its making me hungry now just looking at the picture! must make another!

Anyway back to last week.. One of the kids favorite days out was with just the two older ones, i took them to the Cinema to the Kids Am club to see a film followed by a walk along the prom to kiddys corner. Which has little kids rides and somewhere i used to go every week in the summer with my granddad, although it was in a slightly different place when i was small it was on the prom in what had been an art deco open air theater, but unfortunately the powers that be decided to demolish it along with the old promenade and build a new one which was nice at first but after only a couple of years its already corroding badly and yet they are still working there way along the coast building the same thing. So the place is different but the rides are the exact same one that i went on as a kid and they were quite old then so they are very old now, but it was nice to watch them and realize that i was doing the exact same thing on the exact same ride nearly 30 years ago.

We started our entry for this years Gala ( which is a post for another day) which involved a lot  of sticking and gluing  and is still not finished yet. Can you guess what it is?

Meanwhile Alex was introduced to the Jumperoo!
And then finally this weekend the sun came out! So lots of playing in the garden, picnics and the paddling pool, water bombs ( which took me nearly an hour to fill and 5 minutes to pop!) and a day at the beach!

Such posers!

oh and some craft time for me!

Bye xxx
