What a week! & Freds First Day at School

So after such a relaxed summer holidays, i spent Saturday labeling the uniform and taking up the hems on Freds trousers and generally making sure everything was good to go on Monday morning. It was great till Molly started being sick and had to spend the rest of the day on the couch. Sunday rolls around and Fred and Ewan are sick and up all night being sick. Ewan wanted to go into school, which normally i would have not allowed but he really wanted to go so he could pick his seat in class and on the other hand at least the teachers wouldn't think we were sneaking a few days extra holiday somewhere. But poor Fred was not good at all and had to miss his first ever day of school!  To be honest i am sure he didn't mind as when the next day came and he was well he really kicked up a fuss at the gate and we had to take him into the class room and  the teacher hold him while we left. We decided as Paul had taken a couple of days off that we would go out for lunch...on our own...!!!! My mum watched Alex for us. What a nice change and so strange to be out alone, it just never happens. So we spent a couple of hours relaxing and when Fred came out of school he was really happy and had clearly enjoyed it. But a few hours later both Paul and i were both really ill and sick,i put it down to a bug maybe but Paul is convinced it was the food and i think he might be right, so the next few days were hard, going back and forth to school as Fred is only doing afternoons this week, when we were both so weak and ill. Fred put up a bit less resistance each day and today Friday he ran in!!! The thing he most enjoys is carrying the milk tray!

So here he is at Nannas Before he went and at School with Daddy.

And of course Molly & Ewan

Brockholes

This is the end product of a trip to Brockholes!! they were all fast asleep on the way back and i could have easily have done the same.

We went to do one of the Explorer Trails, we chose the hard one! Basically you have to follow a map and find little picture boards that are hidden and answer the question on it.

We parked up next to a pile of rubble that i think they were using to make paths and cover the car park with and the kids thought this was great

We managed to find all the cards and answered all the questions.

Its such a lovely place and the park is fantastic

We won't leave it so long before we go back next time x

Last bit of the Summer Holidays

The last bit has been and gone now, getting the last bits of uniform and enjoying a few more sunny days! Lots more crochet!

We went to ride the lights in Blackpool like we do every year, but this year was more like walk the lights after, punctures and bits missing of the bike trailer, which i blame Fred for as he likes to get spanners out and unscrew things! So with a missing part we decided to walk through so the kids didn't miss out and we had some chips and candy floss as well

Mermaid Tail

Straight after finishing my blanket, i wanted to start a new project immediately and on my desk was a newly purchased 400g ball of an aqua coloured Aran, with flecks of different colours in it like a tweed. I had bought it to make a jumper for one of the boys, i love making them anything blue to go with there cute blond hair and blue eyes!
But after seeing endless mermaid tails,it looked perfect for that and i new Molly would love it, so i made her one and so this was my main summer project.

I think it turned out great, just a bit hard to photograph!

Butterfly Stitch shawlette

Finally got round to taking some pictures of the Butterfly stitch Shawlette. I used a cone of 4 ply yarn that i had been given in a big bag with other cones of yarn.

If i am really honest this make didn't inspire me at all, i like the colour but its not the color i would have used. All the others i have seen in this pattern have been variegated and that is what i should have used. I did like the pattern though, so might make another one at some point, but in bright colours

Its very cosy though round my neck and will be great for the school run x

Arts & Crafts Show

There is an Annual Flower, Arts and Crafts Show near me and for the last few years i have always meant to enter, but never have. This year i put it on the calendar and decided this is the years we actually do!

We got a programme of the event and decided what we would enter.

The day before was quite dismal outside so it was nice to spend the day in the kitchen baking

Fred entered the Chocolate Crispie cakes, but we did a bit of a twist, we made them with Rainbow Drops and White Chocolate

Molly and Ewan both entered decorated cup cakes, but in different age groups

So that night we loaded all the cakes and other crafts in the car and headed to the venue to set the up. We had to leave them over night as the judging was first thing in the morning and we could not goback till 1pm. Whilst taking them in Molly dropped her cakes, she was so upset and she had done a fantastic job with them, we rescued them as best we could.

It was really exciting to wait all morning and as soon as we got back to the hall Molly and Ewan were off to see if they had won anything.

Molly got Second Prize for here arranged Fruits to form an animal

Ewan got First Prize for his Burger Buns!

Molly was super pleased to get First for her Fish Cakes, despite dropping them!

Fred came Third for his floating flower heads

And Fred got a Well Done for his Crispie Cakes

I entered my Star Wars Jumper, but got nothing...

Also i entered Stripy Blanket but again nothing...

But i entered a Lemon Drizzle Cake and Came Second!!!!!!
I was really surprised as it had not really been one of my best, but i am a fab baker so next year i am definitely entering all the baking classes!!

It was a really good couple of days and the kids were happy and they got a few pound for prize money, so they want to enter more next year. I loved looking at all the other entries and its given me so ideas for other crafts for me to do, to add to the huge list of things i already want todo!
