Sunny weekend!

This weekend has been wonderful! we stayed in and just did what we wanted, which was just what we needed to do. Since the kids have been back at school and i started college it feels like its been a whirlwind with so much going on. Its been hard for me to get back into the homework routine since its been years since i had to do anything like that but i am enjoying it. Last night i sat down to write an essay on  child development and despite having four children i just stared at the screen for about 30 mins but once i got started it was easy. I think its just more difficult when you aren't used to doing things like this. I am really enjoying both courses that i am doing, even the GCSE Maths which i hated at school but i think now with a bit of experience behind me such as work situations where i have had to use it, has made it that much easier, and the other bits that i have never had to use i am also enjoying and its nice to stretch my brain once in a while! we will see if i pass of not next year! The Working with Children and Young People level 3 that is my main course has really started now and i have a placement at the local Childrens Centre where i run the Craft and Chat sessions. As i go to lots of groups their i decided to do my placement in the Young Parents group. I actually really enjoy it and the staff have let me be in charge of organizing the crafts! think i can manage that!

I can't stop taking pictures on my way home from college i have tons on my phone. But its illumination season here so its very busy and all the lights are up. Paul took the kids through the illuminations the other week while i was at college as he had forgotten to take his house key and i had turned my phone off so i was really surprised to find them all outside when i had finished. The last two weeks Paul has taken Ewan to look round High Schools eeekk where did the time go!

Now its just me & Alex during the day we have had some little outings and been going to lots more groups

I have been so hungry recently and needing lots of comfort food,i saw these baked potatoes on pintrest and i have to say they hit the spot. I topped ours with Ham and Pineapple and of course lots of garlic butter

Soups and stews are back on the menu in force!

I went out to the Conservative Dinner Dance last week and while i was getting ready me and the kids had a mini disco!

This is one little disco lazer that cost £5 i think on ebay but its fantastic and reacts to the music

I love, love , love these reindeer! My Mum and Dad took them to Stannah last week and they were helping kids make them for free!! We are going to dress them up a bit for Christmas

So Saturday night was games night

Chance to knit in between turns

Fred got his first party invite from school, he was so excited

While he was there Molly made some Fairy Bird House

While i started a new project, Socks!

When he got back i made them some gloop to play with

Afterwards Paul played football on the field with them, it was such a perfect day and do sunny and warm, but then nice to come inside and snuggle up with a hot chocolate when it got cold.

Cable Knit Cosy Cardigan, Baby Cardy & My First Socks!

I have a stack of old knitting patterns plus all the patterns i am constantly pinning, like most other crafters i imagine!! I have some many that are Aran jumpers for all the family and i have been after trying one for a while and earlier this year i finally got around to starting one, but other projects came along, till a few weeks ago when i started finishing projects off to clear the way for me to start a whole host of new ones!!!  I did enjoy doing this one though and i love seeing the little ones wearing it and i say that as both Fred and Alex have worn it out. In the past i have made things for Fred and by the time i have finished they are to small so Alex has worn them so now i make they quite big.

There were a few mistake that i made in the pattern but had done quite a bit after before i realised but i think that just makes them unique... well thats what i am saying anyway

My neighbor had a baby a few weeks ago so i knitted a little Baby Cardigan for him, i love this pattern i made quite a few in the past for my children and i have kept it as its a really quick and easy pattern so makes a nice pressie for a newborn.

So my next make, told you i had done lots of knitting recently!
I don't know why but i have been enjoying knitting more than crochet recently, mmm

Socks for my Dad.

Last year my dad was looking for some 100% merino wool socks like ones he had bought in Australia but couldn't get any here, so i decided to knit him some as i had quite a bit of 100% merino wool left from the Star wars jumper i made for Paul. I have never made socks before and kept putting it off thinking they would be really hard and fiddly, but was surprised as they are fairly easy, these were aran so not as fiddly as 4ply ones. I was making them for Christmas but finished them before his birthday so gave them to him then and he really likes them, so now i know what i can make for him in the future, as he is so difficult to buy for and always tells us not to get him anything.

The Second Week!

I think the second week back was harder than the first. That week I did 15 school runs as Fred was on mornings only that week so that has meant for me walking 37 and a half miles on the school run alone! Add to that two nights at college a gala meeting so that's three evening taken up. The kids clubs had started back up too. Phewww i was glad that it was the weekend and now its the weekend after that, 3 weeks of back to school under my belt already, its flown by!

Fred is loving school now, at first he hated it but now i think that was just fear of the unknown, hes only 4 after all, but when he was screaming and fighting when going in i was super worried as he had been doing 2 morning a week at nursery for 2 years and did the same each morning dispite the fact that within second of us leaving him he was fine and getting on with whatever they were doing so really it was all for our benefit. I remember when i used to collect him from nursery i would watch him happily playing and to this day i do not understand what that was all about. So when he started the same thing at school that first week and knowing how stubborn he is i thought that's it, he will carry it on and on. But he didn't the second week he ran in and can out full of what he had been up to. I am so glad he loves it now and it seems his favorite lesson is PE must get that from Paul definitely not me!

Alex is starting to get used to being without Fred during the day, at first it was really hard for him and i think he really misses Freddo, which is what he calls him!
I love this chocolaty, sleep baby picture, Paul had just come back from taking him to the beach.

The weather the last couple of weeks had be gorgous, the kids have been able to play out in the street and i have taken my chair out and sat knitting. I am working on some socks, my first every pair. Surprisingly i have knitted a lot over the last few weeks, although i have a feeling that will change now i have started getting home work from college. I do love coming back from college and seeing the tower all it up.

Backyard Film Night

This was actually a few weeks ago now, we had been desperate to try the new projector outside, which is on of the reasons we bought it.
We got a new DVD for the event Minnion's, the kids had already seen it but really enjoy it

We had a BBQ and made burgers and sausages and when it started going dark we switched the projector on, by this point we had a fair few kids hanging over the fence, it was a bit of a novelty for them i think

It did start getting a bit chilly so we had to bring out lots of blankets and coats

I was really surprised by the quality of the film, it was great and the kids really enjoyed it

I don't think we will have any more though this year it did get rather cold but next year i am sure it will be out all the time. In the mean time i think we will have film night in the lounge

Rory the tiger Crochet Hat

Fred is a huge fan of the Haven Holidays mascot Rory the Tiger and he wanted a hat so i had a go and i am really pleased with the out come and more importantly so is Fred!

As with allof the hats i make i just winged it, there was no pattern just a rough idea of what i wanted to do

Even though the weather has been really good for the most part he has been wearing it all the time

I need to start making hats of the others not as the autumn chill is creeping in round here, especially on the morning school run x
