Weekends

Sunday morning sat in bed with a cup of tea, in my yarndale mug ( it has to be my yarndale mug!). This has become a big part of my weekend routine, just spending a bit of time relaxing, working on a crochet or knitting project, reading blogger. It's so nice to just be for a while, now the kids are not baby's they are happy to have downstairs to themselves and get on the Xbox for a while. The mornings have been very sunny recently as well, which is always a bonus and i love sitting and looking out on to the fields.

I like it early in the morning when its still quiet and the fields are empty, its very peaceful.

Although this sounds like we have very chilled weekends, this Sunday morning calm, is possibly the only chilled bit, weekends are usually very busy, its cramming all the house work and washing into two days and we can do around 10 loads of washing in a weekend! Thank god we bought a tumble dryer months ago, washing in washing out, that's our weekends.
Yesterday i sorted out all the clothes, 3 bin bags full for the charity shop, one full of jumpers to store in the loft for winter and a bag for the bin. In fact yesterday was a very productive day, i got lots done so today we are off to Marsh Mill for Superhero day.

There are not many weekend where we don't have at least one thing in the diary, a few weeks ago was a Coffee Morning at the Conservative Club, i baked my usual Strawberry and Cream Cake.
We took the kids to this one and they got to draw the raffle

As the weekends are getting sunnier, i decided i needed to get outside more, as i feel i never seem to get outside with working in an office all day, so when the matches have finished we pop over to the field, take a blanket and some crafts

We had a visit from Pritti Patel MP, who was the guest speaker at one of our coffee morning, we decided to bacon rolls and i volunteered to make the bacon beforehand so had to get up super early to cook it all which took about 2 hours, but it was another opportunity to use the buffet server to keep it warm till we got there. Note to Paul-see i have used it lots now..not just a waste of kitchen space, stuck in the cupboard, is it very sad that i have this kitchen appliance obsession?

The kids are getting very good at drawing raffles now!

We finally got the hot tub out, a lot later than we usually do, but i have just not had the time to set it up, i have been in a couple of times so far with the kids.
Whats really bugging me,is that i bought some lights that go inside it and i can't find them. All i know is when i bought them at Christmas i put them in a very safe place so they wouldn't get lost.....

We have been doing quite a bit of crafting here and there, this weekend was making planters for the gardens, pictures next time of the finished article

Last weekend Paul too Ewan and Molly to Lazer Quest, on what wasi think the hottest day so far.
Me and the little boys got the small tent out and they enjoyed playing camping and setting the tent out

Love this picture, Alex made me a vase of Dandelions and insisted they should be by my bed.
Hes is so sweet

Big Family day out last month was a trip to the SandCastle , which is a big indoor waterpark.
We had not been for 4 years, the last time i was pregnant with Alex.
Fred and Alex were just amazed,i don't know where they got there energy from but after 4 hours they just slept and slept

Ewan's 12th Birthday

Ewan turned 12, a few weeks ago now, i bought this smash cake from Asda for on the day as i was making him a cake for his party, well not a party really, more of an outing with his friends.

I do like this set of snaps i took, very expressive!

We got him clothes and a new phone for his birthday, its getting that much harder to buy things for him.

A couple of weeks after his actual birthday, Paul took him, Molly and some of his friends to Lazer Quest for Starwars weekend!I booked unlimited play and they ended up staying the the whole day.
i think Paul enjoyed it just as much as the kids.
When they got back and the morning after there were some very sore people, Ewan had a blister on his finger from pulling the trigger!

This is the cake i made for his party, its a mobile! not one of my best cakes acctually but it tasted good and Ewan was happy

Fairy House

I keep seeing these adorable fairy houses on pintrest, made with coke bottles and clay, and i desperately wanted to make one, but just never had time.
Then i saw some small ones made from jars and one morning got up very early and just started making one, everyone wondered what i was up to

It was a lot easier than i thought to get the shape, and i had a packet of air drying clay in my craft cupboard.

I let it sit for a few days till it was completely dry and painted it.

I decided to use oven bake clay for the door and flowers, but i was a bit concerned about the other clay cracking in the oven, but decided to give it a go anyway

It worked!!

I am so pleased with the results, we have a whole village planned now!
