Internet

Half way through half term and my internet has gone down, this time it seems the line has been cut, at the main junction, so its going to take a few days for the engineer to get it re connected but they did promise us compensation which i doubt will be much and if its like last time they gave us a free 3 months then disconnected us every month as we had "not paid" read the notes for gods sake, in the end we only got 2 months free as we decided it was easier. So i am now sat in Madhatters with the kids and the bonus is they have free wifi, so i have able to catch up with a few things, we always have problems with the internet when i am organizing an event and really really need to advertise it!!! I think that's what they call sods law!

Its been a very chilled out half term this week, the kids have been playing out as the weather isn't too bad and i have really nearly finished Pauls Jumper, just one sleeve to go!

I am busy sorting out Halloween in the woods and i think its going to be really good, so i am heading home now to paint headstones!

This time last week...

Molly and i were at Disneys Worlds of Enchantment on Ice in Manchester, we had such a great time and i will write about it soon, as i have lots of pictures, but since we changed to windows 10 the other week i can't seem to transfer my pictures to the laptop, so Paul is going to work on sorting it out for me tomorrow.

Winter is definitely starting to kick in around here now, its really starting to get cold and the coldest day seemed to be Thursday when i had to make numerous trip to school to take the kids, collect them, then take the back for the Halloween disco, then collect them again, typical! The really strange thing is that i keep getting this Christmas feeling, like today we went and did the shopping and after we got some chips from the chippy and it all of sudden felt like we were doing the Christmas shopping, i suppose its because the nights are drawing in and we have the lights on in the evening and the last couple of days in the morning and as its not actually that far off i have been doing some present shopping. Yesterday i ordered quite a bit off Amazon, then realised that with half term the kids will be in when they are delivered, at least Amazon package them up well and i will try to use last years excuse that its bulk delivery's of wool!!!

I have not really had much time to work on Pauls jumper the last two weeks, but the body is finished and nearly one sleeve so just another sleeve and the collar to go, he had booked his ticket for the preview of the new Star Wars movie and is keen for me to finish it, so better get on with it.

Molly went to the illuminations with the Rainbows on Monday and i tool the boys along as well, again pictures coming soon! She wore the rainbows hat the i crocheted earlier in the year and it seemed quite popular with a few orders so i guess its that time when i will start to get busy making hats again, which is something i love and the last couple of years it has really helped with the cost of Christmas, which as you can imagine with four kids is not cheap!

At the moment i am busy helping to arrange a Halloween event in the local wood and i will be doing some face painting, which i think i am getting quite good at now, i did Mollys face for the disco and she looked super scary as a scary doll, i wanted to do something really scary but had to remember it was a kids disco!

I have finally have a diagnosis for the bad back/hip problem i have been suffering with for years, the bad news is it isn't really something they can fix but i am going to have some sort of injection that can manage the pain, i really hope it works as it will be nice to have a break from it, i keeping thinking about the bed i slept in in the hotel where Molly and i stayed, it was really soft and i thought, oh god i won't be getting any sleep tonight!, but i did, and i keep remembering how comfy it was, it was the first day in years where i have not woke up really stiff and in pain, i think the staff thought i was mad telling them how wonderful it was, i will have to see if we can stay there again.

Better get back to work now as i am busy advertising gala events for the next few months and have some posters to do, think i put more effort into my volunteer work than i ever did in any paid job i have had, but its something i really love doing and i am sure when the kids are a bit older i will get the job i know i would really love and hopefully all this will stand me in good stead.

Bye for now xx

Makin' Faces

Can't believe its been 2 weeks since i last posted, i wrote this post over a week ago and it never posted for some reason so here it is now!

Finally its Saturday morning, a day we have all been waiting for this week. Each day we have got up just a bit later than we should, so morning have been a bit rushed and that seems to have a knock on effect throughout the day. We all seem to have colds at the moment so i think that is why, we are all just a bit sleepy and lethargic, not really bad colds, but just under the weather, but this weekend we have no plans, well i have plans, sewing and knitting!.

Thought it was about time i told you about my new hobby, or business of the future. During the summer we attended so many fairs and fun days and the person with the longest queue always seemed to be the face painter... it got me thinking... i can do that ..i though. So i bought i cheap, really cheap face painting set to have a go, i didn't think i was that bad. but the paints were awful and took days to come off, so i looked around and bought myself some snazeroos which are the type that most face painters use, and different brushes, and sponges. Also glitter tattoos are always popular so, i bought all the kit required for that as well.

It all arrived in the middle of August and everyday was face painting day which the kids loved at first, but the novelty is being to wear off, so now i only make they sit once a week.

Even Alex loves being painted

These are some of the first ones i did, so not the best ones, and since i have done a couple of bookings and they have gone really well, time flies when you are painting! now working on some for Halloween, so will update with some more pictures xx

Late at night

Its late at night, 11.30pm with is super late for me and i am snuggled up in bed, on my own as Paul is off on a rare night out and i just can't sleep. Its been another busy week and a hectic few days, Friday, i did my first Craft and Chat session with the Childrens Centre. Its a group that used to be called the Parents Forum and more recently Family Matters, its a place for people who use the centres to give feed back and opinions on the group, which is really important to help the groups run well. However, its just been two of us for a while now, so just our opinions and we needed a wider intake of people to give a good representation, so after lots of various attempts to recruit more people, we came up with the idea of Craft and Chat, each month we offer a different craft, with a free creche, and our hope was that in the break people would in return give feed back This first one was Crochet and went really well.

Well its now Monday Morning, the other night after typing a bit i fell asleep! Its windy and rainy today and its just me and little Alex in at the moment, so i feel its a knitting and telly morning, its quite cosy like this, just a shame i have to pop out and collect Fred from nursery, but i will enjoy the peace while it lasts. Yesterday i sat knitting till 3pm when we went out for a birthday meal for my dad, its nice to got out  all of us. Saturday night was the Gala Quiz night and i had spent all Friday night and Saturday sorting out the Quiz and games for the kids, but when we got to the pub only a few people had turned up, should have checked really as i think it was the rugby that kept people away, not to worry though it was the first event i have organised that wasn't a success, next time i book something will check the sporting calendar! I still impressed with the kids game i made, it was a beetle drive but i swapped the beetle for a little windmill, will have to save it for another time.

Sauage Sizzle

The weather this week has been glorious even better than summer for most days, i even enjoyed the misty fog this morning, yet now we are bathed in sunlight. Last Sunday we decided to pack up some  dinner and head to the beach for a sausage sizzle, we got out the now well used camping stove and our pans and kettles and we sat for hours. At first i sat in the car as Ali was asleep, listening to my new Glen Miller CD and knitting, but to be honest it was just to hot for that, so i sat near the sea wall cooking, and knitting, there wasn't even a breeze.

Molly made a amp fire, like at forest school, love the way she used the orange stool as a campfire

Hope the weather last x

Tie Dye

Last week i mentioned we did some tie dye with the kids, they really enjoyed it and Fred has worn his tee shirt ever since.

I had bought some kits from Home Bargains £2.99 for 3 powder dyes in bottles, that just needed water adding.

We headed out into the garden to do it and our old table is now very multicolored ( also my feet looked like i had frost bite as i was wearing flip flops). We each did different designs with the elastic bands and it was really quick to do as you just squeeze the dye on from the bottles instead of dipping and soaking. Next day when we took the bands off, i was really surprised at how well they turned out and even after a wash they had kept the brightness

Here they are

This one was Mollys

This one Ewans

This one mine, that Fred wears

Looking at all those plain white vest now...hmmmm

A wasted day in the life of a mum?

I woke up this morning with a full day ahead, i Rug Doctored the dining room, the couches and rugs, washing in and washing out, an Everest pile if ironing done, toys packed away, windows polished and sparkling, dusted and hovered, straightened and tided, dishwasher loaded and unloaded several times and floors mopped and all the rest we mums do in the day. But no time to sit and enjoy the clear floors and sparkling kitchen sides as the kids need collecting from school........

Then pots out, tea cooked, while toys are pulled out and played with, toddlers "help" by re-cleaning the windows with dirty baby wipes and tea is out and the scrubbed table is painted red with pasta sauce, which now dots the newly cleaned carpet, pots all over the sides more dishwasher loading to do, last load of washing brought in , stacked in the kitchen ready to iron, sticky fingers on the telly and a muddy puddle walked through the kitchen, and its only 18.45....

I have to wonder if i really should have spent my day more wisely, perhaps sat drinking tea on the couch watching Jeremy Kyle or Judge Judy and working on my Starwars knitting.... After all the house would have been exactly the same!!!
