Calm and more cake

I am sat with some hot lady grey tea, a hot cup of tea with four kids is a luxury, and some toast with real butter reading some blogs, the kids are playing with the duplo brinks and have built a fort with soldiers (little bricks), Alex seems to have acquired a little duplo garage and is wheeling his car in and Fred is playing with moonsand, they are all chattering, humming and singing to themselves and the tv is on in the background but nobody is watching, all is happy and content and there really isn't any place i would rather be. I am making the most of it because it could be minutes or perhaps an hour, who knows before something happens and chaos erupts.

Thursday was our 4th wedding anniversary and we decide to stay in as Paul was working late, so i treated us to some champagne and made some chocolate coated strawberrys, which is what we were left in our cabin on our wedding day. We got married on a cruise ship. The glasses were a present from the captain and we always get them out on special occasions and Christmas when we have champagne.

I made a little table decoration with our glass bowl we got off the ship and used on of the passion flowers from the bush at the front of the house

Yesterday the rain cleard up and the kids had chance to play outside, they love the new play area and at least they don't bring lots of mud into the house. I was actually quite a warm day

There was more cake baking, this time for the Macmillian coffee afternoon at school, which was really well attended, and there was more cakes than we ever have at the school fairs and there were some really yummy amazing ones that put mine to shame

Alex managed Three all on his own!

When we got back, poor Fred fell outside and cut his head, there was blood everywhere, but thankfully it was just grazed. this was after i has cleaned it up, before his hair was matted with blood

Just a cute picture of Alex in his little shirt

Well now the arguments have started, approximatly 10 minutes after the wrote they were happy, thats just life in a big family and i know that one day i will miss it when they are all grown up! x

Late nights & cake

My bed felt far to comfy this morning and i really really didn't want it to be 7am.  Thats because i had a late night last night, at Psychic night, its a fundraising event i organised for the gala, we have them every other month and have done for few years, its one of the things i inherited when i took over and its a great night and we always raise good money. I only started going this year as i was always a bit scared to be honest, but actually its not scary at all. I have had two readings  the past and both were very accurate and quite specific about things, the first time i think it was one of my relatives that came through, and the second time i feel it was one of Pauls, just because they told me things i wouldn't have known and only confirmed when i got home and told him. I didn't get a reading last night but have booked a private reading for next month, its fascinating me now. Yesterday i spent a day baking some cakes to sell in the evening, that was fun, a day baking and knitting, not such a hard life! As usual my two favorite cakes went down well and i have promised the recipes to a couple of people so i though i will put them on here as well, will do it later in the week.

Despite feeling super sleepy, it was a really nice walk to school, when the weather is nice and sunny, but with a slight mist nip in the air, you can feel the season changing to autumn. I even wore my new chunky poncho i finished a few weeks ago, its so soft i think it will get well worn.

Last weekend was really really lazy for us, we did nothing and i mean nothing ( apart from i tiny bit of food shopping, well you gotta eat!) i cooked roast dinner and we sat in the hot tub, the last hot tub of the year as we really have to pack it away now( tearing up here), i will really really miss it, well we both will, its been so nice on summer evenings to sit out in the back with a couple of Bacardi and chat and relax, its so peaceful, and in the last weeks we have looked for constellations after its gone dark, but most of all it was nice to sit together outside and chat about random things without any distractions, like telly, computers and phones. ,We don't do that often enough, like now we are sat on the couch, telly is switched off and we are talking but i am on laptop and he is on tablet, its nice to be without these things sometimes.

The last week while the kids have been at school and in between all my commitments i have been getting on with Paul's jumper and i am really pleased with how its turning out, it is nice to have a bit of time to myself every now and then. Its even better if Fred and Alex take a nap at the same time , which is rare as Fred doesn't usually nap anymore. They been making the most of the garden though which they love and it keeps them occupied for ages so i can sit down.

Yarndale is next weekend and i had planned on going, but have decided against it as it would just mean spending money on even more yarn (i sill haven't used the yarn i bought last year!) and i just bought all i need for the rest of this years projects as they had a sale on, so i am going to save the cash for a weekend away that Molly and i are going on in a few weeks, we are going to see Disney on Ice and stay over night, just the two of us, a little girly weekend, i am so looking forward to it.

Oddly enough even though i am so tired i can't keep my eyes open i have had a really productive day and done lots of gala planning so maybe a late night every now and then is not so bad

Blackpool Tower

After Comic con, we went to Blackpool Tower, and we had a sit down while the kids played in Jungle Jims. We decided that as the last time we went to the Tower the top was shut due to high winds, that we would go up now. Paul has never been to the top before, i still find that amazing as he has lived here since he was five, i think i was just very lucky as my parents took me all over the place and we used to go to the tower at least once a year, i had a few birthday parties there.  They have a 4D cinema that you go to before you get to the lift. The kids loved it, but there was a part about the Isle of Man which i thought was a bit odd... never mind. Then we got in the lift to the top, it was about 7pm ish at this time and the sun was starting to set

No way was i standing on the glass floor!!!!

The kids standing on it nearly gave me a heart attack

Notice Ewan holding on!!!

Its a long way down

Can see our car in the car park!

I love the tower building and love looking at the older original parts, and i can imagine how it would have been, i love that merlin have restored the front of the building but inside its like they have just built random walls everywhere that don't fit in with the original decor

on the way home we drove back through the illuminations, Ali fell asleep, but the others enjoyed it  xx

Comic Con

Last Saturday , was a day that Paul had been waiting for, Blackpools first Comic Con. Being a huge Starwars Fan, he has wanted to go to one for ages and one on our door step was t good an opportunity to miss. Paul decided not to dress up just to wear his starwars hoodie and i decided to wear a skirt i made ages ago out of comic book fabric, so i thought that was quite apt really. I got te dressing up box out to find costumes for the boys to wear, only to realize the despite the fact i have three boys we don't own any super hero costumes! they have just never been into any of them really, Ewan like spiderman for a few weeks, but only because his friends did and never asked for  costume. We did find a jedi costume for Ewan and Fred a caterpillar costume, Molly wore one of her princess dresses. we were good to go!

Paul was working in the morning so we caught the bus there to meet him, having left the pram in the car Alex had the rare treat of walking on the dinosaur (baby reins thing) and with no pram we were able to sit up stairs at the front which they love to do

When we arrived i was a bit blown away by the queue, it went round the whole building and over lapped, each time i walked round a corner i expected to see the end of the queue and Paul wasn't doing any better, he had been waiting for an hour to get into the car park. I was so lucky i saw a friend in the queue who allowed us to push in with her

Ewan was immediately happy to be "arrested by a storm trooper

The place was really over crowded, we said that next time we would just take the older ones as it was a nightmare pushing the pram around.
Some of the costumes people were wearing were amazing, i saw my brother and nephews, they were dressed up as well.

One of the stalls was selling skirts like the one i was wearing

Look at this little boys mobility scooter, its fab
We all thoroughly enjoyed it, yesterday on the web there were lots of complaints about it, from the queue to the amount of people etc, it was badly organised to be honest, but as its the first one i am sure they will learn and next year will be even better.
