Spring in Lockdown

Lockdown has been a strange time, but for us we have be happy and content spending time at home together in our own little bubble. I had had a few weeks off sick after Easter, but when I went back to work it was decided I should work from home, so literally came straight home again and now I finally have my kit and a couple of weeks ago started worked from home, which is great I am starting to get into a routine, Paul is still working from home and two of the kids will go back to school next week. So we have had plenty of time together to enjoy the glorious weather we have had, well right up till I started back working😆 that makes a change!
So these are some of the things we have been up too!
My one weekly outing has been food shopping, for myself, my parents and a picking up a few bits for a friend, who gave me some beans to grow with the kids. We have planted one each and Molly made us some stick signs to go in them, we are each looking after our own and seeing who's grows the biggest and most importantly grows beans...watch this space😃🤞

The main room we have lived in is the conservatory, and I have made some bunting, well I made it a while ago, and it was for another local project, but as that's on hold I decided to use it to decorate, which has inspired me to order pictures and other things to make our new house ours.
Just started this jigsaw, it's been a while since we have done a big one. I have utilised a changing table top that was in the house as a jigsaw holder and it works really well.
We have a tiny little Wren building a nest above our hot tub, he doesn't seem to live in it yet, but comes every day to add to it.
Last weekend we had a walk to Fleetwood, now that we can.
I have been making us a packed lunch, like subways, which I miss

Fred in a bag, he didn't want to socialise one morning so zipped himself in for a while❤
My lovley new lights for round my hot tub😍 sooo relaxing at night with the tub lights on as well
Crafting has of course played a huge part in lockdown, for all of us! I had to laugh the other day when I said I might order some new supplies and Molly said Mum you have lots of things already and the craft shed is a mess, you need to tidy it up and see what you have first before getting anything else to go in it!🤭 that was me told! To be fair we are all in it alot and there are models and part made things everywhere, which is one of the good parts of the craft shed, no mess in the house
My new favourite summer drink, mixed with Bacardi,  it tastes like mojito
Current WIP, my winter berries jumper, first jumper for myself
A walk round stanah towards Fleetwood, which is a quieter walk
Finally on the really hot days, when we couldn't get a paddling pool, we used the old hot tub instead, along with a slip in slide.

We really have been lucky to get so much time together, we have done so many things and its been such a restful time and one I think was needed x

Fred's 8th Birthday

Not so little now Fred turned 8 last month, I had promised him a birthday party at home, which he has been asking for the last couple of years, but our old house was not big enough really, so when we moved, he was excited for his home party, but it wasn't to be this year with lock down.
He asked for an oreo cake, which I made, including oreo frosting, which was a mix up between butter cream and the middle bits from oreos and a few of the biscuits themselves crushed up, he loved it!
We found a Green bike online , it had to be green! Plus lots of lego and mcano foe him to build.

We made it as fun as we could and fingers crossed next year he can have his party at home x

VE Day 75th Anniversary

We had been planning to attend a street party in the town, Paul had been helping a local eatery to plan it and apply for the road closures. But it wasn't to be and VE day looked like going past with out the celebrations that would have been, till I saw a post of facebook for a stay at home street party, social distancing of course! And it seems like lots of others dilecided it was a good opportunity to celebrate at home as well. I had seen the poster and thought I would print it out and see if others from my street would like to do it as well, however the morning after I printed the posters and invites...one came through my door from another neighbour 😃 it seems I was not the only one with that thought....then a what's app group was set up by a neighbour, who also had a sound system and another had done a quiz. Once I realised it wasn't just going to be us, we decided to really decorate the house, red, white and blue!

We had lots of bunting already and balloons,so I looked at Amazon to see what we could get delivered in time...not much really as everything was either sold out or would be delivered a week to late! But we ordered a plastic union jack table cloth and some banners, which when they came were very flimsy so we covered them with sticky back plastic,to tie to the railings on our front wall.
So we improvised with things we had in the craft shed and made, crepe paper flower's, like I remember from when I was a kid and we used them to decorate the gala floats. We didn't  have enough to do exactly as I imagined but we again improvised and made a big VE 75 sign for the front of our house.

I went a bit overboard on the outdoor picnic, which we had on the grass verge outside our house, same as the other neighbours did. I made pulled pork, cooked party sausages, sausage rolls, meats, cheeses, crisps, a traditional trifle, macaroons and buns which Molly decorated with icing flags and 75 logos, she really is a star as she worked so hard helping me and working with me the day before to get everything ready, she deserves so much credit❤ because the day before reminded me so much of Gala days, well they days before the gala, everything going on and all hands on deck to get everything ready..but we did it!

The day arrived... we put out our decorations, set up our picnic and spent a glorious sunny afternoon listening to 40's  music, having a quiz and waving at cars who helped us all as they went by! Every house on our block came out and it really was an amazing day. Much like a gala in reverse, instead of us on floats, we sat while cars when passed and beeped and we all waved.

It was such a fantastic day!
