Camping at Haven

So we finally decided to try camping further a field, not too far only an hour and a half away at Haven Lakeland. I booked it a couple of days after we got back from smithy farm. We love havens and have been to quite a few but always in a caravan ,never camping, but camping is so much cheaper so it was worth a go. We just booked a 3 night weekend arriving on the Friday night, as it was not too far away I went to work, but just did a half day so we arrived about 5pm. It took a bit longer to pitch the tent as the ground was so hard we couldn't get the tent pegs in! After we had pitched the tent we headed back off site to get the shopping for the weekend, we couldn't bring it with us as the car was jam packed, the nearest aldi was quite a way away so we opted for coop instead.

Night one and it started spitting, the forecast is not good and one family packed up and left, but it was warm, far to warm, I sat out at 11pm  enjoying the few splodges of rain, this is the bit of camping I really enjoy a few drinks sat out in the fresh air enjoying the peace.. We sort of peace i could hear a few crying kids but they are not mine thank God! Mine were all fast asleep along with Paul. Sleeping in the tent is the thing I dread but last time we camped I had a couple of good night's sleep,  I was really worried that about the thunder that had been predicted.

Well it did rain, but I didn't hear any thunder, I finally managed some sleep at about 1pm after crying baby's and numerous trips to the loo! Wake up time this morning 4.59am! That's when I heard my kids stirring so a trip to the loo with them and back to the tent, but they were not having it and going back to sleep when it's daytime! It was just far to light, so at 6.20am i made myself a cup of tea as quietly as I could while answering what feels like hundreds of question on a really wide variety of topics while my eyes felt like they were bleeding. I headed off to stand in the toilet block and charge my phone then back for a bit of pre breakfast knitting which took me  through the next hour till I felt like it's a more civilized time to cook breakfast

After the first day of almost none stop rain, where we just stayed around the Haven site and went to various activity's, craft club, messy play and a puppet show.We went swimming and played in the arcade. We were lucky it stopped raining so we could cook the tea! as we have no outside cover.
Next day after a good nights sleep we went out to explore, we visited the Lakeland and Haithawaite Train line, so Alex and Fred were in train heaven!

Back to the tent for tea and i had to take a picture of this! Ewan after washing up!!!
all the kids have jobs when camping and washing up is between Molly and Ewan

After so much rain and being confined in a 2m x2m living area with 4 kids while it rained,we made the most of it when it didn't. This is the bit i have really enjoyed about camping just being able to sit for a while and watch the kids having so much fun.

So after this trip we decided camping was for us, i had wanted a caravan for years, but with no space to store one we decided to get a bigger tent!
Cheers to that!

A very wet Fleetwood Carnival 2018

So now Molly's turn as Princess is over we decided to do some fancy dress costumes and enter some of the other galas.

We decided on Mr Men!

Which meant that Little Miss Princess could keep her crown!

and was joined by Mr Bump & Mr Happy

We Came Third!

Unfortunatly, it was a very wet one and with the cardboard costumes falling apart from getting soggy and the paint running off, we had to leave the parade.

But we all still had fun!

Hot baths and PJs on when we got home for a cosy afternoon inside x

Singleton Gala 2018

We went along to watch Singleton Gala, the day after Fleetwood and the weather was much better

The maypole dancing is the highlight here and one day i will have to give this ago

Our Fleetwood costumes got a picture in the paper and as you can see Fred was dresses as Mr Bump....

The following day he decided to become Mr Bump by falling off some Monkey Bars in a park.
This is him on his way home from the Hospital in a temporary cast.

He is so brave,he never batted and eyelid while they were casting him up,
Hes just a superstar!
